I have to apologize for being late on this post. I went to my scrap room to take pics of the canvas/flower technique and got side tracked in organizing buttons and embellies. lol My counter needed to be cleaned from last project, which lead me to putting away left overs from past projects that had just been put in bowls and so on. Next thing I realize that Dancing With The Stars is half over and I still haven't started what I came in here to do. lol I seem to do that alot. Suppose to be working on a project and end up playing around with something else. I call it "My Stalling" lol Anyways, back to the canvas/flowers from yesterday.
I used canvas sheets instead of chipboard to make the flowers for the bracelet because the canvas sheets are much more sturdy. I used the Steam-A-Seam for fusing the paper to canvas because of the permanent hold. You could also you the steam-a-seam on just paper to paper. Instead of gluing your two pieces of paper together and then diecutting them, fuse them. Your paper will be sturdier, great for those altered projects, like frames or banners. I know there are adhesive sheets out there but I just tried what I had, and loved it! I have to say, it sands really well, no glue issues and of course you can ink it. Here's a couple more flowers.
Ok, to get started cut you paper to size you want. If you want to cut a bunch of flowers or other images then cut larger pieces. I just cut for the flowers I needed. So I cut my paper, canvas and steam-a-seam each 3x3.
You will need 1 piece of canvas, 2 pieces of paper and 2 pieces of steam-a-seam. Take one of your steam-a-seam sheets and peel off the paper on one side.
Press it onto the canvas piece. Press it out really good for the sticky to adhere to the canvas. I used the edge of my ruler to help press it out. Slowly peel off the paper on top, leaving the sticky adhesive on the canvas. Now place your paper onto the sticky canvas.
Press your paper onto canvas. Now your get to fuse it all. I know this may seem like alot to do just to make some flowers, but I just love how thick and sturdy they are and I get to use my ribbon iron, which has been collecting dust lately. lol The instructions on the steam-a-seam says to press for 10-15 seconds with a steam iron, but that is not needed. I only did it for about 5-8 seconds. I used my Pebbles Inc ribbon iron, heck you could even use a flat iron that you use for your hair. I have done that with ribbon.
Make sure you go all around your paper to get every where. Now, if your doing larger sheets, you may want to use your iron. Once it's cooled off, watch out with the ribbon iron, boy does it get hot, diecut your flowers.
All done, now see, not too bad. I sealed mine for the bracelets since there was paper on top of the canvas. I used Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage Matte. You can find it and any craft store in the paint dept. I like this decoupage because it dries abit faster. I did about 3 coats. Now if you are just doing this for projects you wouldn't need to seal them.
Thanks so much for checking out my first tutorial. I really enjoyed it.
Have a wonderful evening!
