Ok, I know I haven't been a very good blogger since I have started my new blog. The idea was that this blog would help motivate me to post and create more often. The only creating I have done for awhile is for class projects, which I LOVE to do. But, I do not just play and create for me. With this blog, that is my goal and you never know, some of those projects just may end up as classes. lol.
We had a great time in my last class. We did something alittle different and made some hair clips, lace flower pin and a button bracelet. Wanted to do a quick fun class and I really enjoyed making them. Jillibean Soup had a sample of a button bracelet on their blog last year and I thought it was so cute. Just had to try it.
The gals in class wanted to know the names of some of the supplies I used so I thought I would put it on here. Hmmm, why I started a blog right? lol
The flower on the bracelet is a paper canvas flower.
Wanted the flower to be study for the bracelet, so I fused paper on both sides of a piece of artist canvas then ran it through my big shot with a cuttlebug flower die. The canvas is medium texture artist canvas sheets that come on a pad. You get 10 sheets of 9"x12". You can find it at any craft store in the art dept. The fusible webbing I used is awesome.
It's called Steam-A-Seam 2. I stumbled upon it in my stash, I use to make purses and I knew I had some strong fusible webbing. These were smaller sheets and not by the yard and I said what the heck, let's try it. Now I remember why I bought like 4 packs of it. lol It's a double stick fusible webbing, so you only have to iron press once. It will bond permanently on both sides. You can find it at a fabric store. I found it at Hancocks. I used this to fuse the paper to may canvas. It's best to fuse your paper to both sides of your canvas then diecut it.
I started to go over the steps to make the paper/canvas flowers and realized that it would help to have pics for the steps. So later today I will continue on how to use steam-a-seam with paper and canvas. Before I forget, the hair clips that we made in class, I forgot the supply info.
The flowers are felt with a scallop cuttlebug die. We added pearl, metal and gems to them. The flower on the left is 6 scallop circles stitched together to make a flower with a brad in the center. The bobby pins and hair clip are glued onto the back of the flowers. I used E6000 glue. It holds really well for metal and fabric. You just need to let it sit for a few minutes to let it dry. You can find the hair clips and the glue in the jewelry section at any craft store. Hobby Lobby is the only place I found the hair bobby pins.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
Hugs
